Indira Gandhi (1917–1984) was a prominent Indian politician and stateswoman. She served as prime minister of India twice. She was India's first and only female prime minister to date. Gandhi was a central figure in Indian politics. She led the Indian National Congress. Her cumulative time as PM was the second longest after her father.
