Arthur Schopenhauer

Arthur Schopenhauer Quotes

Arthur Schopenhauer (1788-1860) was a German philosopher. He is best known for his work "The World as Will and Representation," which describes the phenomenal world as the product of a blind and irrational will. Building on the transcendental idealism of Immanuel Kant, Schopenhauer developed an atheistic metaphysical and ethical system. He was among the first thinkers in the Western tradition to share and affirm significant tenets of Indian philosophy. His philosophy has influenced many thinkers and artists.
