Friedrich Nietzsche (1844–1900) was a highly influential German philosopher. He began his academic career as a classical philologist. Nietzsche became the youngest professor at the University of Basel at age 24. Despite suffering from severe health problems, he completed much of his core philosophical writing in the decade before a final collapse.
