Marcus Tullius Cicero (106 BC – 43 BC) was a Roman statesman lawyer scholar and philosopher. He tried to uphold republican principles during political crises. His extensive writings cover rhetoric philosophy and politics. Cicero is considered one of Rome's greatest orators and prose stylists. He greatly influenced the Latin language. A substantial part of his work has survived and is admired today.
